Ground Floor Damp Proofing & Replastering – Heworth, York

This property in Heworth, York is undergoing a full damp proofing and replastering programme to the ground floor after signs of rising damp and salt contamination were found within the existing walls.

As part of the remedial works, Damps Damp Proofing is taking the affected ground floor walls back to brick to remove all contaminated plaster and expose the masonry properly. This allows the walls to be assessed, treated and rebuilt using the correct damp proofing system rather than simply covering over the problem.

To resolve the issue properly, Dryzone rods are being installed to form a new damp proof course within the masonry. Once this has been completed, the exposed brickwork is being backed with a waterproof sand and cement render system to help resist moisture and create a solid base for the new plaster finish.

This type of system is designed to deal with the effects of rising damp by removing damaged material, installing a new damp barrier and rebuilding the walls correctly. Once complete, the treated areas will be ready for replastering and final decoration as part of the wider renovation works.
