Water-Damaged Plaster Removal & Limelite Renovation – Booth, York
This property in Booth, York was undergoing refurbishment when significant water damage was discovered to the lower sections of the internal walls. A leaking radiator had allowed moisture to penetrate the masonry over time, breaking down the existing plaster and leaving it soft, friable, and contaminated.
Although the leak had been repaired prior to our involvement, the residual moisture and damaged plasterwork needed to be addressed properly before any redecoration could take place. Simply skimming over the affected areas would have risked future failure and visible staining returning through the new finish.
As part of the remedial works, we removed all water-damaged and contaminated plaster back to bare brick, allowing the masonry to be assessed and prepared correctly. This ensured a stable, breathable base suitable for long-term repair rather than a cosmetic fix.
To reinstate the walls in keeping with the property, we applied a Limelite renovation plaster system. This breathable system is ideal for properties where moisture has previously been present, allowing the wall structure to dry out naturally while preventing residual salts from migrating back through the finished surface.
Once completed, the walls were left with a clean, durable finish, ready for decoration as part of the wider renovation works.
