Rising Damp Treatment & Limelite Plaster Renovation – Acomb, York

This property in Acomb, York was undergoing a full renovation when clear signs of rising damp were identified along the lower sections of the internal walls. Moisture had penetrated the masonry, breaking down the existing plaster and leaving visible damp staining at low level.

As part of the refurbishment works, it was important to address the damp issue correctly before the new wall finishes were installed, ensuring the problem would not return once the room was completed.

To provide a long-term solution, we carried out a full rising damp treatment combined with a renovation plaster system designed to manage both moisture and residual salts within the wall structure.

Rather than relying on cosmetic repairs or standard plaster, we installed a chemical damp-proof course (DPC) followed by a Limelite renovation plaster system. This breathable plaster system is particularly well suited to older UK properties, allowing moisture vapour to escape while preventing salts from migrating back through the finished surface.

This approach ensures the wall can dry out properly and provides a clean, durable finish ready for decoration as part of the wider renovation.
